Day 01: Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca

Very early in the morning we depart by private bus to the village of Cachora, the journey time is approximately 3:30 hours until we arrive to the area indicated. At this point we will meet with our muleteers to start the walk between places wonderful wildlife, after 02 hrs., we will arrive at the open of Capuliyoc located 2800 m.s.n.m., from this place you will be able to appreciate the amazing Apurimac valley, the depth, its majesty and surrounding the harmony of its snowy peaks. After we continue to walk for 03 hrs, we arrived to Chiquisca place where we will camp. Here we will take dinner.

Day 02: Chiquisca – Choquequirao

Very early we started our way, appreciating the magnificent landscapes of the Apurimac Canyon up to 1.495 meters above sea level , we will pass the modern bridge of the Apurimac River, from there we take a long, hard ascent of about 05 hours toward our goal, after a long walk, we arrived to Choquequirao to appreciate the wonder that keeps us the past, walking along its streets, enclosures, etc.

Then we go to Raqaypata, we arrived just in time to enjoy the incredible sunset over the snow-capped summits before a delicious dinner and a well-earned rest in our campsite (3000m).

Day 03: Choquequirao – Chiquisca

We had breakfast and we began the day by visiting the archaeological recently discovered. We explore these ruins that are currently being matter of excavation and restoration, an optional visit is the Casa Cascada (about 300m below Choquequirao). The archeological monument corresponds with an Inca City with various functions and which communicates by means of passages with the plaza mayor. This square is defined by constructions of different uses, has a ceremonial character and 02 levels of housing. The remains of the monument show that the city was suddenly abandoned.

You can see temples of the sun and the earth, royal residences, rest rooms for Mitimaes and residences for farmers.

Arriving at the highest point, called the Husno, we will be able to appreciate the sunset over the magical Canyon of the Apurimac. Surrounded by the various Apus or tutelary mountains. With a bit of luck we will see a condor in all its magnificence saying goodbye to the Sun God. After this wonderful experience we return by the same route that brought us to Choquequirao, ending we will arrive at the banks of the Apurimac river.

The road ends at Playa Rosalina, where we will have lunch, after a short break we will continue up to Chiquisca, place of last night.

Day 04: Chiquisca – Cachora – Cusco

We started walking again toward Cachora with duration of approximately 03 hours, can be seen again the canyon, as well as the diversity of flora and fauna with their different altitudinal floors or ecological.

Finally you will arrive to Cachora to board the bus that brings us back to Cusco. Reaching you will be transferred to the hotel. Choquequirao (Chuqui, gold of the aymara, quechua and kiraw, cot, that is to say: “golden cradle”) last bastion and refuge Inca.
