We invite you to review our tour floating islands of the Uros
Our representative will be in their respective hotels to go to the port of Lake Titicaca, where our guide will be waiting for you, to embark and start our adventure.
The first visit will be to the Islands of the Uros. These Islands are a group of artificial islands made by the communards, the Uros use the native material of the area, called totora reeds that springs from the waters of Lake Titicaca. This plant is typical of this area of the highlands and is used to develop solid platforms that serve to build their homes, schools, boats and other craft. It should be noted that the cane of the totora the used as food, being of vital importance for the people inhabiting these islands.
Upon arrival to the island we will welcome you with great joy. We will be able to join in the daily activities of the people of Uros. We will look at how to work with the totora, how they perform their crafts and decorate its textile art. After the visit, the women of the island recite songs in their native language, the Aymara.
