Inca Trail 4 days 3 nights to Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is considered the lost city of the Incas, symbol of the Andean civilization, which shows the excellent work done by their ancestors the Incas. Especially, this tour is one of the most special and demanded by the taste of tourists from all over the world, highlights the unforgettable experience of roads and trails that formerly used the Inca culture, the road still maintains the naturalness of the blocks of Rocks and stairs carved in stone, tunnels and wooden bridges, the harmony of nature in the crossing of the springs and rivers, temperate valleys, the magic of the clouds in the tops of the trees and the mixture of different climates and heights.

Day 01: Cusco - Km. 82 Huayllabamba

At approximately 5.00 a.m., we pick you up from the hotel to go by bus to the point of control or Kilometer 82 of Piscakucho - Cusco. After passing the corresponding control, we cross the Urubamba river to start the trek, in this section we will be able to appreciate the diverse nature that surrounds this enigmatic place, until you reach the Llactapata archaeological group, where we will have lunch. The entire hike will take us approximately 6 hours (13 kilometers) until you reach the first campsite in Huayllabamba.

Day 02: Huayllabamba – Pacaymayo

The greatest challenge: 16 kilometers of ascension to walk through the 02 highest passages, including Warmiwañusca, at 4.200 meters above sea level, this being the highest point of the walk, which we cross breathing with difficulty and surprising us by the impressive panoramic views of the mountains and glaciers. The walk includes the view to the archaeological complex of Runkurakay and Sayacmarka. We will camp in the Pacaymayo to recover energy for the next day. (It should be added that includes breakfast, lunch and dinner in the camps).

Day 03: Pacaymayo – Wiñaywayna

This is a calmer day; we walk only 10 km and most of the route is flat and with some outstanding. We see how it changes the geography, dry and mountainous with a tropical environment that indicates the entrance to the eyebrow of the jungle. On the way we visit the archaeological sites of Puyupatamarka, Intipata to finally arrive to one of the most representative of the trip Wiñaywayna where we will install our last campsite. (It should be noted that includes breakfast, lunch and dinner in the camps or stops).

Day 04: Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco

After breakfast, very early, we leave to the Intipunku (Sun Gate), the entrance of the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu from this point will be the first panoramic view of the Sanctuary, he really is an unforgettable experience, then we will descend to the main part we will visit this magical place with a guided tour of approximately 02 hours, our guide will give explanation of the most important sectors of this beautiful Inca citadel. We will visit the agricultural zone, consisting of sets of farming terraces, the urban area where they developed the main civil and religious activities. We will also visit the Intiwatana located in the highest part of the citadel, the Temple of the Sun, the condor and other important sectors. Later you will have free time, then we descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have lunch. In the afternoon we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and take the mobility to Cusco. Arriving in the city, they go to their hotel to rest.

Day 01 Cusco – Huayllabamba

  • We started with pick you up at your hotel.
  • Travel by private bus to Ollantaytambo town (01hour 20 minutes).
  • In this place, the porters join to our group.
  • Continue trip to KM 82, starting point of the hike towards Machupicchu.
  • Begin hike of ascent towards the archaeological remains of Llactapata.
  • Taste the first lunch.
  • After lunch, we walking to the first camp of Wayllabamba (3.000 MASL).
  • Dinner and rest surrounded by the stillness of the mountains.

Day 02 Wayllabamba - Pacaymayo.

  • Very early they take breakfast, to start walking through the cloudy forest.
  • Begin ascent by steep staircases towards the sector of LLulluchapampa.
  • Arriving we will take a short rest to recover energies.
  • Continuing the hike, we will ascent towards the Abra de Warmiyañusca (4.200masl).
  • Coming to the top you will see the most beautiful Andean landscapes surrounded by Andean snowcapped.
  • After a short rest again begin descent through a winding forest to take lunch.
  • Finally, we will arrive at the second camp of Pacaymayo (3.600 MASL).
  • Dinner and Rest

Day 03 Pacaymayo – Wiñaywayna

  • Breakfast to begin the hiking.
  • This is the longest day of our adventure.
  • We start the walking towards the archaeological remains of Runkurakay, located at 3.900 MASL.
  • After the visit, we will continue the walking to the ruins of Sayacmarca surrounded by beautiful vegetation to 3.624 MASL.
  • We continue the descent are heading towards Phuyupatamarca, historic fortress composed of beautiful water channels.
  • Finally, we will arrive to the most beautiful zone of the Inca Trail Wiñayhuayna, here is the last camp at 3.000 MASL.
  • Dinner and rest

Day 04 Wiñayhuayna - Machupicchu - Cusco

  • After the 04.30 a.m. they take the last breakfast, and then begin the hiking.
  • On the route, you will be observed variety of flora and fauna, beautiful orchids.
  • The next stop will be the Intipunku or Puerta Del Sol (sun gate) 2400m.
  • We will see the first glimpse of Machu Picchu and watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu.
  • You can enjoy its spiritual charm during a guided tour (about two hours) that helps you to understand the meaning and ancient use of the different buildings and sacred places.
  • After the tour guide you will have time for explore other sites on your own.
  • At the indicated time, you must be getting off by bus to the village of Aguas Calientes.
  • When you will arrive to Aguas Calientes town, we will have time for lunch.
  • At time, they will take the train of return to Ollantaytambo.
  • Transfer to their hotel.

The Tour Includes:

  • Pick up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer by private bus to km 82 (starting point to the Inca Trail).
  • Entrances fee to Inca Trail and Machupicchu.
  • Professional bilingual Guide (Spanish and English).
  • Camping equipment, (professional two-person tents: Doite, model Cima 4, extra, Doite, model Kailas; sleeping mats, dining tent equipped with a table and chairs, a sanitary tent).
  • Cook, cooking equipment, meals (3 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 3 dinners). Food includes pancakes, omelet’s, soups, fresh fruit and spaghetti, chicken, fish, meat and rice, all rich in carbohydrates and very suitable for trekking, hot drinks including coca leaf’s tea which is excellent for the altitude.
  • Porters to carry the equipment and some belongings of passengers (only 06 kg per person).
  • First aid kit and oxygen equipment.
  • Bus going downhill to Aguas Calientes village.
  • Tourist train return to Ollantaytambo.
  • Transfer to your hotel in Cusco.

  • Original passport, or original document to be shown in the control before entering the Inca Trail.
  • A backpack with enough clothes for the 4 days that lasts the walk.
  • Waterproof jacket in case of rain (optional plastic ponchos).
  • Flashlight and batteries.
  • Photographic camera.
  • Walking shoes.
  • Swimwear, in case you want to visit the hot spring in Aguas Calientes.
  • A cap, sunscreen, mosquito repellents, toilet paper.
  • Personal medication, if you have any special medication.

Additional Information:

  • Reservations for this tour should be with much anticipation, at least 5 months before.
  • Daily are availability 500 spaces dosed in visitors, porters, and guides.
  • Are required all personal information to proceed with the reservation.
  • The participant must carry his own backpack during the Inca trail (including the sleeping bag and mattress).
  • If any eventuality the passenger cancels his service, or desists from continuing on the hiking, will not be returned the 100% of the service, except the Entrance to Machu Picchu and the train ticket, from Aguas Calientes to Cusco).
  • The participant must declare if he/she has any illness or personal treatment, and must bring his/her own medicine.
  • The agency will not be responsible for the natural problems (landslides) or other problems, in case of strikes and delayed train departures.
  • All participants must bring their original Passport.
  • If the visitor is a student must carry his/her student card "ISIC International only valid until 25 years of age.
